Friday miscellaneous (2/3)

Michael Farris, founder and Chancellor of Patrick Henry College, has started a blog on Constitutional Literacy. Check it out.

Jonah Goldberg at National Review is making the case for Romney. He writes:

A President Romney would be on a very short leash. A President Gingrich would probably chew through his leash in the first ten minutes of his presidency and wander off into trouble. If elected, Romney must follow through for conservatives and honor his vows to repeal Obamacare, implement Representative Paul Ryan’s agenda, and stay true to his pro-life commitments.

Moreover, Romney is not a man of vision. He is a man of duty and purpose. He was told to “fix” health care in ways Massachusetts would like. He was told to fix the 2002 Olympics. He was told to create Bain Capital. He did it all. The man does his assignments.

Is he right? Or, as another article notes, is Romney not angry enough?

I found a very nice overview of the current state of the GOP nomination race. Romney is leading, but there are still a lot of delegates up for grabs. However, it appears that Gingrich and Santorum are not on the ballots in enough states to wrap up the nomination before the convention. Which means their only hope is preventing Romney or Paul from getting the nomination, resulting in a brokered convention. At that point, anyone could be nominated. (It’s happened before, but the last successful candidate from a brokered convention was FDR.) (Correction: it appears that both Santorum and Gingrich are still able to win the nomination.)

This week saw a second significant case involving religious liberty.

Conor Friedersdorf gives a run-down on the various meanings of the word “conservative” in politics today.

And finally, does anyone have any comments on these weekly wrap-ups? Like? Dislike? Let me know.
